Dyed in the Wool XL Bar Bag

Dyed in the Wool is a German bicycle bag makers and the XL Bar bag is their interpretation of the ultimate handlebar bag. This isn’t a reproduction of a bag, this is 100% designed from scratch with a fully-waterproof shell, reinforced with an HD foam and HDPE liner, making a rigid bag that maintains its shape when it’s attached to the bike, eliminating the need for a rack. If you did want to use a rack, the XL Bar Bag mates nicely with the Nitto F-16.

The outside of the bag is wrapped with Molle webbing allowing you to play with attachment points and mount lights as well as other accessories creating a really versatile platform no matter what you need to carry.

The XL Bar Bag retails for €180,00.

Features:
-YKK Water Resistant zippers
-HDPE liner
-DH foam liner
-Recycled ripstop lining
-1000D coated Codura
-Coated Xpac
-Dyneema Paracord

This past summer they rode from Freiburg to the Bodensee, through Switzerland along the Rheinfalls, through Lichtenstein, over the Vorarlberg where they encountered snow and almost got lost but somehow made it all the way to the Königssee in Berchtesgaden.

A Fundraiser for Munich’s Guten Biken

A Fundraiser for Munich’s Guten Biken

“Almost ten years ago, David Phillips started a little bicycle repair shop in the heart of Munich called Guten Biken. What kicked off with fixing bent derailleurs, snapped chains and broken spokes in a cramped basement workshop, hidden away in a back alley, turned surprisingly quickly into a proper bike store. As Guten Biken went on growing as a business, we became more and more engaged in our passion for building custom bikes. But through that growth we always stuck to a simple conviction – that every bicycle that gets pushed over our doorstep, no matter how old and rusty, deserves a second chance (or at least parts of it). ”

Più di Pegoretti: Design Students Products

“Enthusiasm for cycling, commitment to your own work and the openness to learn new things from each other — that is the bond that unites the students from the Stuttgart State Academy of Art and Design and Dario Pegoretti, the master builder of top-quality, individual frames for racing bikes. For weeks he and the students wrestled with ideas and plans — thinking, drawing and designing. The many ideas finally gelled into a singular project: Più di Pegoretti.”

Anyone who’s attended design school, can attest to at least one professor who has singlehandedly changed their outlook on the world. I’d imagine Pegoretti would be such a professor. Check out the Più di Pegoretti project and see what his students came up with this semester!

Florian’s Troica Disc All Road

Reportage

Florian’s Troica Disc All Road

When in Berlin, photograph German frame builders, right? Troica Cycles is a Berlin-based builder, specializing in tig-welded, steel cyclocross and road bikes. While their website’s offerings look beautiful, Florian‘s bike is a little different. This all-road, light tourer, randonneur, or what have you, features a beautiful segmented fork with a custom rack to boot. Its paint job is accented by the sour apple Chris King, ENVE M50 wheels and a bright turquoise Chris King headset. This bike is colorful, yet subdued at the same time…

Today I got to spend four hours with Florian and his Troica, admiring its subtle style and capabilities. Check out more for yourself in the Gallery!
